SOUTH ROSE HILL/BRIDLE TRAILS NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION

Executive Committee Meeting - Tuesday, February 8, 2005

President Bruce Feuling called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m.

Lake & Central – The proposed project will soon come before the Council.  Comments regarding public process included that the Public Works Department doesn’t really put things up before public comment.  They did not anticipate this type of feed-back.  The website on this issue is very informative.

85th Street - There are scheduled meetings regarding zoning code amendments.  Steve Tindall gave a very thorough citizens’ viewpoint of “The A Team” and the process at the January meeting.

“Miller’s Park”? - Colleen Cullen gave an update on the new park and recent developments.  The City is in negotiations to acquire the property owned by the Root family.  Colleen discussed the City’s Park Naming Policy and copies were distributed.  She also discussed the little stream on the property which drains to Forbes Lake and is intermittently culverted.  Miller’s grandfather originally owned the property and there apparently had been two small cabins for laborers.  The N.A. will send an email out regarding ideas for naming the park and asking for suggested amenities for the park.  Possible funding sources could include $25,000 from the Neighborhood Connections Grant and $50,000 from Starbucks park grant.  There is no money for development until there is another park bond, but there would be a Master Plan process, etc.  Mike Cogle will be returning at the September N.A. meeting.

Snyder’s Corner - The City of Redmond will be putting in improvements along the Old Redmond Road, including medians, curbs, sidewalks, planter strips, etc.  Snyder’s Corner is within the City of Redmond but the City of Kirkland owns it, and the County retains some rights to say what happens there.  The City of Redmond may be interested in annexing the property and buying it, bringing the City of Redmond boundary to edge of Snyder’s Corner.

The New Traffic Task Force - will meet on Thursday, February 17th, at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall in the Rose Hill Room.

The SRHBTNA Picnic - may have to be held at Lake Washington High School or the Tennis Club due to construction at both Ben Franklin and Rose Hill Elementary Schools. It was decided that the immediate past president should chair the Picnic Committee.

Improvements to East Side of 116th Avenue - The sidewalk between 60th and 67th is to be done this year and will look at neighborhood input and an April/May timeframe.  Half street improvements will be built on the east side, so we may need to move the mailboxes, bike lanes, etc.

122nd Avenue N.E. Meeting - regarding traffic, congestion, problematic parking, pedestrian safety etc. will take place on Tuesday, February 15th at Farmers Insurance at 7:00 p.m.  Residents have been complaining for years for the City to respond and implement corrective measures.

New Officers/Nominating Committee – Jeannette Simecek will run as President-elect and Andy Held has agreed to run as Vice President.  Elections will be opened up in May and there may be nominations from the floor.

Ideas for the Agenda for the March Meeting

The May Meeting will feature City Manager Dave Ramsay and N.A. elections.

The September Meeting will feature Mike Cogle regarding park amenities, etc.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:43 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,
