  • Reports

The agenda for the November 2001 meeting was discussed.  Tentative agenda items:

  • City Grant Program- City staff will report back on the results of the idea submissions.
  • Neighborhood Priorities—Seek volunteers on major topics

Other agenda items:

  • Report on NE 85th Honda dealer application
  • Transfer station report
  • Tennis Club bubble
  • Transportation- I-405
  • N. Rose Hill Neighborhood Plan
  • Water tower property reuse

Denny Schor presented 3 issues of concern:

  • Lee Johnson site- trucks blocking sidewalk along 85th.  Called police and tried to work with Johnson.
  • Developer signs on weekends- blight of the neighborhood.
  • Tree Cutting- mentioned Morales plat across from RHES on 128th.  Up to 200 trees are in danger of cutting.

A discussion followed about 2 of these items:

A.  Trucks blocking pedestrian access at Lee Johnson site:  Jessica suggested that this is a safety issue that the neighborhood association should help with. It was decided to wait until City Council elections are over and to take this up early next year, when newly elected council members are in place. The plan is to meet with council members, city staff, and Lee Johnson representatives to try and work out a solution to this problem.

B.  Preservation of mature trees: this is an issue that is important to many residents of South Rose Hill and Bridle Trails. Mature trees are something that gives both neighborhoods part of their unique character. Jessica suggested that the neighborhood association make this a project to work on by working with Kirkland City Council members and staff to figure out ways to give developers incentives to preserve trees and to discourage residents from cutting mature trees.

The board suggested that Mr. Schor bring up these issues to the neighborhood association. Denny said he could not be at the next meeting, so Jessica said she would bring this issue up and talk about it.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 pm.  The next Board of Directors meeting will be December 11, 2001.

Respectfully Submitted,
