Hello Neighbors,
The City of Kirkland has just started the Neighborhood Safety Program (NSP) for 2025, and our South Rose Hill-Bridle Trails Neighborhood Association needs your project ideas! The NSP funds $350,000 of pedestrian and bicycle safety improvements throughout the city each year. The projects are all submitted by Neighborhood Associations, so this is a great opportunity for us to raise safety issues in our neighborhood to the City and advocate they be addressed. . Common projects include visibility improvements, lighting, crosswalk improvements, traffic calming, bike improvements, and signage.
The deadline for the SRH-BT Neighborhood Association Board to submit ideas to the City is December 2nd. Once all of the ideas are collected, we will work with City Staff until February to determine feasibility and design, finally selecting 2 projects totaling less than $75,000. The applications from each neighborhood will then be ranked to determine which get funding, and will be approved by City Council in the Spring.
There's a lot of ground to cover in our neighborhood, which is why we need your insight and ideas! You don't need to have a specific solution in mind; we can start with just identifying what the safety concern is. Please email kyle@rosetrails.org with any ideas you have, or submit your idea using the form below. We can setup a phone call or meeting from there, if you like.
I'd like to thank Jim Hoff for serving as our neighborhood's Project Coordinator for 10 years, and I'm excited to take on the task!
Kyle Sullivan, on behalf of the South Rose Hill-Bridle Trails Neighborhood Association Board
